Start with your experience
PADI lists dive centers in Punta Cana. Tell the center your certification level and when you last dived; if you have never dived, request an introductory program instead of a certified-diver excursion. Do not treat a hotel pool demonstration as proof that you qualify for a boat dive.
Identify the departure area
Ask whether the proposed dive departs locally or includes a road journey to another coast, such as Bayahibe. Confirm the number of dives, boat arrangement, equipment rental, guide, hotel pickup and any course materials. Your hotel name alone does not identify the dive site or departure port.
Fit diving around the rest of the trip
Give the dive center your flight schedule before selecting a date and ask it to explain its flying-after-diving requirements. Complete the center’s screening directly with its staff. Keep health details out of an initial general travel inquiry; an instructor must assess participation requirements and any necessary clearance.
